Social Work

Overview & Highlights: 

For centuries Christian ministry has included social work. The social work major at FPU continues that tradition, encouraging a commitment to social justice and a life of service. The major educates students in counseling individuals, couples and families, working with groups, facilitating individual and social change, and developing new services for people in need.

What can I do with this degree? (Our Graduates): 

The social work major prepares students for positions in a variety of social work or service careers, as well as for graduate study in social work, ministry, probation/corrections, mental health, gerontology, school counseling, and a variety of other professions.

preparation: 

Students interested in majoring in social work should complete their prerequisite and foundational courses during their freshmen and sophomore years.

Students interested in graduate study should complete PSY-300 Statistics prior to graduation.
